This herbal simple syrup is quite delicious with a beautiful flora flavor and aroma from the rose and lavender. It is wonderful to use as a sweetener for cocktails or mocktails.

Herbal Simple Syrup Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup organic fair trade, cane sugar (or 1 cup local honey)
  • 3 tbsp. dried organic lavender flowers
  • 3 tbsp. dried organic rose petals

Directions:

  1. Boil water in a medium pot on the stovetop
  2. Once the water has come to a boil, remove the pot from the heat and steep the herbs in water for about 10-15 minutes. The flavor and aroma should be much more concentrated than a typical cup of sipping tea.
  3. Strain the herbs and discard/compost
  4. Bring your tea infusion back to a boil
  5. Add sugar or honey* and stir until dissolved
  6. Set the pot aside and allow it to cool for at least 1 hour
  7. Add 1/2 tbsp. (or to taste) to a mocktail or cocktail of your choice!

Check out my favorite calming and refreshing summer mocktail!

Notes:

  • Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 1-month.
  • If using honey, dissolve the honey in warm water, not boiling water (do not raise the water temperature above 110*F). Using honey will provide this recipe with more health benefits.

The recipe adapted from Mountain Rose Herbs.

Cheers!
