What’s an herbal mocktail?
An herbal mocktail is mocktail (non-alcoholic) infused with herbs. Mocktails are a perfect choice if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or simply want to avoid alcohol.
We know that alcohol consumption can have a serious impact on your health and research shows it can cause a number of health issues such as hormonal imbalance, acne, memory loss, brain fog, mood swings, nutritional deficiencies, gut & liver problems, and weight gain. Therefore, whenever we can limit the amount of consumption, our bodies will be much happier.
There are so many fun mocktail recipes to enjoy. Here I am sharing one of my favorite summer ones. It’s a great overall nervous system supporter, thanks to the wonderful herb, holy basil.
Holy basil, also known as Tulsi is one of my favorite adaptogenic herbs. Adaptogens help you adapt to stress better.
Studies show some incredible benefits of holy basil:
- improves your energy and concentration
- anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties
- lowers cholesterol and blood glucose
- acts as a galactagogue (promotes the flow of mother’s milk)
- elevates mood and increases happiness
- acts as a neuroprotective
- enhances memory
- reduces the symptoms of asthma

Directions:
- In a cup, add in each ingredient.

*To make the holy basil tea (serves 2):
- Add 1 cup water and 1 tsp. of dried organic holy basil to a small pot on the stovetop.
- Once boiled, cover and remove from heat.
- Allow tea to steep for about 10-15 minutes.
- Allow tea infusion to completely cool before adding it to this mocktail recipe (can be placed in the refrigerator).
Notes:
- The tea infusion can be stored in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
- If you don’t have or can’t find holy basil, you can use another herb like chamomile.
